Course Description
This one-day course will provide a comprehensive overview and update of the new and essential MR technology and clinical applications. It consists of two major sessions including technologically based lectures (4) and disease entities (14). Talks cover major diseases involving brain, spine, head and neck, and pediatric concerns commonly encountered in the daily clinical practice and frequently associated with clinical research. This course starts with technologically based lectures to prepare the technological background of the audience by reviewing and updating simple but essential technical information prior to the introduction of clinical applications. Following is the clinical session covering applications in 14 major disease entities that will be relevant and have impact on daily practice. Each talk will begin with highlights, 3-5 essential points. The speaker will then prove these points during the lecture and conclude with the same points brought up at the beginning of the talk. There will be five 10-minute open discussion sessions for interaction among the speakers and audience, which will provide ample opportunity for getting essential information and resolutions that may not be readily available in the everyday working place.

Audience Description:
This course is aimed at clinical and basic science professionals. For relative beginners it provides an introduction to multiple applications of MRI in neuroradiology. For those with more advanced expertise it gives an overview of the state of the art in the role of emerging MRI sequences in various disease entities.

Neuroradiologists, both beginners and experts;

Diagnostic radiologists practicing MR in patient care;

Physicians diagnosing and treating brain, spine, head and neck diseases in both adult and pediatric patients;

Individuals with an interest in new MR techniques applied to neuroimaging;

Individuals with basic science background and interest in clinical merit and relevance.

Educational Objectives:
Upon completion of this session, participants should be able to:

Describe and implement in daily clinical practice several of the newest and most promising MR techniques;

Compare new knowledge to current practice, recognizing the strengths and weaknesses in their own practice;

Identify MR areas that potentially benefit clinical practice and patient management;

Describe the current status of high-field neuroimaging;

Explain the role of various MR techniques in the diagnosis of diseases of the spine, and head and neck in both adults and pediatric patients.
