WEEKDAY EDUCATIONAL COURSE
CLINICAL INTENSIVE COURSE
Artifacts in Body MRI – Case-Based Teaching
ORGANIZERS: Caroline Reinhold, M.D. & Evis Sala, M.D., Ph.D., F.R.C.R.

SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate-Advanced
Wednesday, 9 May 2012

OVERVIEW
This interactive two-hour course will utilize an audience response system. The focus will be on artifacts on body MRI, with lectures addressing how to recognize and potentially resolve artifacts in diffusion weighted imaging and other sequences utilized for body MRI. The artifacts will be discussed in a unique and interactive way to encourage the audience participation in describing the physics behind the artifacts, their clinical significance and potential remedies.

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this course participants should be able to:
Recognize various artifacts related to diffusion weighted imaging in the body; and
Describe common and unusual MRI artifacts and their remedies.

AUDIENCE DESCRIPTION
This course is designed for radiologists, MR technologists and clinical support scientists who wish to improve the use of MRI in their practice and to know how evolving MRI techniques can aid in clinical problem solving in the body and impact individual patient care.
