OVERVIEW
This 2-hour course is a part of the Clinical Intensive Neuro Course and will focus on basic infections in the brain and spine and their MR imaging characteristics. Physician speakers will cover:
Regional differences of CNS infection and inflammation in adults;
Bacterial infections in the CNS in the immune and immune-compromised host;
Viral infections in the CNS in the immune and immune-compromised host; and
Mimics and parasitic infections of the CNS.
An audience response system will be used to create an interactive learning environment.
 
EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this course participants should be able to:
Explain the region differences of bacterial, viral and parasitic infections;
Describe the MR imaging characteristics of bacterial and viral infections in the adult brain; and
Describe MR imaging characteristics of parasites and mimics of infectious and viral lesions in the brain.
 
AUDIENCE DESCRIPTION
This course is designed for physicians who are interested in learning more or updating their knowledge on infections and inflammations for their daily routine practice of neuroradiology.
