OVERVIEW |
This 2-hour
course is a part of the Clinical Intensive Neuro Course and will
focus on basic infections in the brain and spine and their MR
imaging characteristics. Physician speakers will cover: |
|
Regional differences of CNS infection and
inflammation in adults; |
|
Bacterial infections in the CNS in the immune and
immune-compromised host; |
|
Viral infections in the CNS in the immune and
immune-compromised host; and |
|
Mimics and parasitic infections of the CNS. |
|
An audience
response system will be used to create an interactive learning
environment. |

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES |
Upon completion
of this course participants should be able to: |

Explain the region differences of bacterial, viral
and parasitic infections; |
|
Describe the MR imaging characteristics of bacterial
and viral infections in the adult brain; and |
|
Describe MR imaging characteristics of parasites and
mimics of infectious and viral lesions in the brain. |
