WEEKEND EDUCATIONAL COURSE
Case-Based Teaching - Clinical MR of Cancer: Solving Problems in Cancer Patients
ORGANIZERS: Anwar R. Padhani, M.D., M.R.C.P., F.R.C.R. & Shih-Chang Wang, F.R.A.N.Z.C.R., F.A.M.S., M.B.B.S.

SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate
Sunday, 6 May 2012

OVERVIEW
This one-day course will focus on the role of clinical MR methods, with a view to meeting current challenges in clinical diagnosis and management. The program is patient-focused, anatomically driven (head-to-toe) and comparative (ie please place MRI in the context of other commonly available imaging methods). The course will discuss via case-based teaching, employing an audience response system, problematic clinical issue(s) faced by radiologists in practice dealing with cancer patients.

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this course participants should be able to:
Describe common clinical problem at a variety of anatomic sites, at various stages of a cancer patient's journey;
Explain how technological advances and understanding of tumor biology can help address challenges in cancer diagnosis and therapy assessment;
Compare and explain the relative merits and limitations of imaging versus other methods in addressing clinical needs;
Perform and interpret the results of MRI/MRS to aid in individual patient differential diagnosis, therapeutic response and prognosis; and
Appreciate where further scientific/technical developments are needed so as to advance patient care at the point of delivery.

AUDIENCE DESCRIPTION
This course is designed for physicians (radiologists and oncologists) and for clinical support scientists who wish to gain knowledge concerning clinical problems and to know how current and emerging techniques can aid in clinical cancer problem solving.
