SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate-Advanced |
Saturday, 5 May 2012 |
|
OVERVIEW |
In this one-day
course, speakers will be both physicians and physicists. The topics
to be covered are: |
|
Ultra-high field MRI (7T and above) – patient
safety, RF considerations, portability of imaging
protocols and clinical applications; |
|
Neuromodulation – electrical, pharmacological and
exercise driven; |
|
Spinal cord imaging methods – optimization, advanced
techniques, post-processing and quantification; and |
|
Analysis methods – quantification and
standardization (focus on quantitative fMRI,
quantitative iron deposition and clinical
morphometry). |
|
The overall goal
is to familiarize physicians, physicists and technologists with
advanced d MR methods. The format will be didactic sessions with time
allotted for discussion. |
|
EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES |
Upon completion
of this course participants should be able to: |
|
Explain the advantages and disadvantages, and
foresee specific clinical application of ultra-high
field MRI; |
|
Describe the state of knowledge regarding
neuromodulation by electrical, pharmacological and
exercise driven interventions; |
|
Describe recent advances in spinal cord imaging
methods of acquisition and analysis, and evaluate
their advantages and disadvantages; |
|
Explain the principles of different quantitative MRI
methods and the strategies for their
standardization; and |
|
Evaluate different methods of performing MR
morphometry, and their potential application and
validity in the clinical setting. |
|

AUDIENCE
DESCRIPTION |
This
course is designed for neuroradiologists, pediatric
radiologists, general radiologists, neurologists,
neurosurgeons, MR technologists, physicists and engineers
associated with neuroimaging. It should be of interest to
physicians, physicists and basic scientists. |
