OVERVIEW
This 50-minute course focuses on the role of MRI in patients presenting to the emergency department. State of the art imaging methods for rapid studies appropriate for acute indications will be reviewed with particular focus on MRI of appendicitis and MRA / MRV for vascular emergencies including acute aortic syndrome, pulmonary embolus and deep venous thrombosis of the lower extremities. New contrast agents and pulse sequences will be reviewed. All presentations feature didactic–interactive lectures using audience response technology.
 
TARGET AUDIENCE
This course is aimed at radiologists who wish to introduce new disease classifications, management strategies and techniques into their body MR practice. The course content will also be of interest to MR technologists and clinical support scientists involved in body MRI.
 
EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

As a result of attending this course, participants should be able to:

  • Identify the role and performance of MRI for the diagnosis of acute appendicitis; and
  • Employ MRA/MRV for the diagnosis of acute thromboembolic disease.
