SUNRISE EDUCATIONAL COURSE
Debate: Clinical Utility of CEST in Oncology
SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate to Advanced
ORGANIZERS: Robert E. Lenkinski, Ph.D. & Anwar R. Padhani, M.B.B.S., FRCP, FRCR
Tuesday, 13 May 2014

OVERVIEW
These three methods: CEST, MRI-PET, and MRS each have been applied in the clinical setting to address several important clinical question either in diagnosis and/or monitoring treatment response. Each has its own technical challenges that may have hampered their adoption in widespread clinical studies. This debate will present the motivations for overcoming these challenges and address how they could impact clinical oncology when applied successfully.

TARGET AUDIENCE
Clinicians and Scientists interested in assessing the technical challenges and advantages in applying CEST, MRI-PET and MRS in Clinical Studies.

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

As a result of attending this course, participants should be able to:

  • Identify the technical barriers inherent in using these methods (CEST, MRI-PET & MRS);
  • Evaluate information derived from each of these approaches and how this information can impact diagnosis and treatment response; and
  • Appraise the prospects of how and when these methods will impact routine clinical use.
