EDUCATIONAL COURSE |
Post-Treatment Brain Evaluation
|
SKILL LEVEL:
Intermediate to Advanced |
ORGANIZERS:
Meng Law, M.D., M.B.B.S., FRACR & Greg Zaharchuk, M.D., Ph.D. |
Thursday, 15 May 2014 |

|
OVERVIEW |
The assessment of the
post-treatment brain has become increasingly complex in the era of
combined therapies including radiation, chemotherapy, and new anti-angigenic
agents. Optimal clinical interpretation needs to consider molecular
features and timing after treatment to assess the likelihood of
pseudophenomena. |
|
TARGET AUDIENCE |
Radiologists, oncologists,
scientists, and physicists interested in learning how to integrate
advanced MRI techniques into the assessment of patients who have
been treated for brain tumors. |
|
EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
As a result of attending this
course, participants should be able to: |
- Distinguish MRI
pseudoprogression and pseudoresponse from true tumor activity;
and
- Assess the role of
perfusion, permeability, and diffusion techniques in the
post-treatment brain.
