Multiple Sclerosis |
| SKILL LEVEL:

|
| OVERVIEW |
|
Multiple sclerosis is one of the
commonest disabling neurologic conditions world-wide. Although the
basic MRI findings are already well described, advanced techniques
are shedding new light into the pathophysiology, anatomic
substrates, treatment, and follow-up for patients with brain and
spinal cord demyelinating diseases. |
| |
| TARGET AUDIENCE |
|
Neurologists, scientists,
neuroradiologists, and physicists who need to know how to employ
advanced MRI to better understand and treat multiple sclerosis.
|
| |
| EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
As a result of attending this
course, participants should be able to: |
- Assess quantitative MR
methods in white matter injury;
- Illustrate grey matter
injury patterns in MS using MRI;
- Improve or adapt MR
protocols to identify demyelinating spinal cord lesions; and
- Appraise the role of
ultra-high field MRI in MS.
