OVERVIEW
This two-hour course focuses on the state of the art MRI methods for assessing diseases of the GI tract. Specific focus will be made on MR enterography to assess inflammatory bowel disease of the small bowel, staging of rectal carcinoma, as well as evaluation of the perineum for fistulas and pelvic floor dysfunction. All presentations feature didactic–interactive lectures using audience response technology.
 
TARGET AUDIENCE
This course is aimed at clinicians, imaging scientists and MR technologists interested in the use of MRI for assessment of diseases in the GI tract, particularly for inflammatory bowel disease, rectal staging and pelvic floor imaging.
 
EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

As a result of attending this course, participants should be able to:

  • Identify the imaging strategies for imaging inflammatory bowel disease, staging rectal disease and imaging the pelvic floor and perineum;
  • Formulate the main clinical questions that can be answered for these applications with MRI; and
  • Address challenges and limitations of bowel imaging with MRI.
