EDUCATIONAL COURSE |
Technical
Advances in Cardiovascular Imaging |
SKILL LEVEL: Intermediate to Advanced |
ORGANIZERS: Harald Kramer, M.D. & Ian Marshall, Ph.D. |
Sunday, 11
May 2014 (13:30 - 18:35) |
|
|
OVERVIEW |
This one day course will provide
the participant a broad overview of the clinical background, the
physical principles as well as the recent advances in cardiovascular
MRI. The three morning sessions will cover a range of cardiac topics
followed by two sessions about vascular imaging in the afternoon.
All of these sessions will cover the clinical needs, the technical
foundations as well as research promises. The course will conclude
with two sessions about recent advances in imaging techniques that
are already impacting cardiovascular MRI as well as emerging
techniques not yet established in clinical routine. |
|
TARGET AUDIENCE |
The course is designed for
scientists who want to learn more about cardiovascular clinical
applications and physicians with interest in understanding practical
cardiovascular MRI methods and emerging techniques. It is
anticipated that a basic knowledge of cardiovascular MRI will be
needed to be able to follow all of the topics. The content of the
sessions is appropriate for radiologists, cardiologists as well as
basic researchers. |
|
EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
As a result of attending this
course, participants should be able to: |
- Describe the physical
principles of commonly used cardiovascular MRI techniques;
- Describe the practical
applications of commonly used cardiovascular MRI techniques;
- Explain recent technical
developments in the field of cardiovascular MRI and how these
developments may (eventually) impact clinical care; and
- Appropriately use
cardiovascular MR in clinical trials involving cardiovascular
diseases.
