ORGANIZERS:
Michael Bock, Ph.D. & Mark E. Ladd, Ph.D. |
Sunday, 11
May 2014 (08:00 - 12:00) |

|
OVERVIEW |
Establishing and maintaining MR
safety is a challenging task for both clinical and technical MR
users. In this course the physical principles behind the safety
risks are described, and the different safety risks for both
patients and personnel are presented. The course aims to provide
practical guidelines to set up a safe MR environment. |
|
TARGET AUDIENCE |
Clinicians, physicists, and
technologists with a desire or identified need for improving MR
safety within their practice setting. |
|
EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
As a result of attending this
course, participants should be able to: |
- Identify sources of
safety risks and to establish measures to avoid them;
- Establish safety measures
for patient screening before an MR exam; and
- Assess the specific
safety risks associated with the use of contrast agents, high
field MRI and implanted devices.
