Overview
This Symposium was proposed by the Reproducible Research study group.
Reproducible and open research are hot topics, and we, the Reproducible Research Study Group, are convinced that they play an essential role in the clinical translation and worldwide dissemination of innovative MRI methods. We currently observe a growing movement towards open science, driven by the community and decentralized development of open-source hardware and software, and we already see many published papers with data and code [Stikov 2019]. In last year’s symposium, we focused on reproducibility issues in the areas of image reconstruction and data analysis. However, reproducibility is much more challenging to achieve on the hardware and acquisition side. In this symposium, we will explore reproducibility issues and challenges related to these topics. One specific aim is to create awareness of reproducible MR hardware projects all over the world. The diverse talks cover different aspects, challenges, and new perspectives from a global, worldwide view to a more local, hardware-specific view. The session will be organized as follows: brief opening and introduction by the trainee representative; four 15-minutes talks given by experts who work on different aspects of reproducible MR hardware; a 15-minutes power pitch session to promote “reproducible MR hardware”; and a panel discussion with vendor representatives who share their companies’ view on reproducible and open MR hardware. The presenters of the power pitch will be selected from the responses to an open call.
