Overview
This course addresses a skill-sets gap in identifying and debugging the sources of artifacts in MRI in a lighthearted game show setting. A wide variety of artifacts will be presented by members of the ISMRM community with input from experts. This course provides an interactive means for rapidly identifying effects and cause of image artifacts.
Target Audience
This course has been designed for trainees, MRI technologists, and practicing radiologists who may benefit from the ability to rapidly identify and eliminate common and uncommon artifacts encountered in clinical practice.
Educational Objectives
As a result of attending this course, participants should be able to:
- Identify common artifacts found in clinical MRI;
- Explain the physical origins of these artifacts;
- Indicate further tests for problem solving and troubleshooting artifacts
- Administer changes to pulse sequences to avoid errors due to fold-over, chemical shift, and motion; and
- Employ artifacts to assist in diagnosis of some pathologies.
