“The content covers a wide range of topics and the invited speakers, presenting during the two-day educational program, are well known and highly regarded in the field of MR.”

The Section for Magnetic Resonance Technologists (SMRT) cordially invites all MR technologists/radiographers, professionals and students to participate in its 23rd Annual Meeting to be held on 10th and 11th May 2014 in Milan, Italy. This meeting will provide quality educational and networking opportunities for all those interested and involved in the practice of magnetic resonance imaging.

The forums for this meeting have been selected by the SMRT Program Committee based on feedback from registrants of previous meetings. The content covers a wide range of topics and the invited speakers, presenting during the two-day educational program, are well known and highly regarded in the field of MR. Please take a moment to review the excellent program the SMRT has put together: http://www.ismrm.org/smrt/14/ The program will include Clinical and Research Proffered paper sessions which highlight the award-winning peer-reviewed abstracts submitted for the meeting. In addition, a Saturday evening Poster Tour and Reception will be held to showcase the great variety of work being done by our colleagues around the globe. Authors of the award-winning posters (1st, 2nd and 3rd) in both Clinical and Research categories, as well as the JAK Award winner (see below) are invited to present their work during the Poster Tour.

The SMRT would like to encourage all technologists and radiographers to share their work through the submission of an abstract for the meeting. Aside from the professional recognition and the financial rewards for the prizewinners, the greatest benefit in doing so is that we all learn from the experiences of one another.

For those who are relatively new to the field of MRI, there is the John A. Koveleski (JAK) Award for Professional Development, for which students and recent grads are encouraged to submit an abstract. Aside from the excitement of competing with your international peers, there is the possibility of winning the prize of US $600, along with a 3-year membership to the SMRT and the honour of participating as a member of the SMRT Education Committee for one year.

Online abstract submission instructions are now available on the SMRT website: www.ismrm.org/smrt. JAK Award instructions are available at http://www.ismrm.org/smrt/JAK/. If you would like to submit an abstract in any of the categories but have never done so before, the SMRT offers a mentoring program, http://www.ismrm.org/smrt/about/mentorship-program/. You too could be an award winner.

And, in addition to all of these educational opportunities, your registration will also include admission to the ISMRM/SMRT Joint Forum on the new hybrid technology, PET/MRI which is being held on Monday, May 12th, 2014. Please be sure to extend your stay in order to attend this informative and exciting Joint Forum.

As you can see, the SMRT Program Committee has worked hard to bring together all the elements of a world-class program for attendees of the 2014 Annual Meeting. On behalf of the SMRT Program and Education Committees, we are pleased to invite you to Milan, Italy for the SMRT 23rd Annual Meeting. We sincerely hope you will participate in “Setting the Trends for Global MR Education.”
