Education Committee Report
Sheryl Foster, MHSc. (MRI) 2015 Chair, Education Committee
The Education Committee has been hard
at work scoring abstract submissions for the annual meeting in
Toronto. It was pleasing to see the large number of submissions
this year with a vast array of topics, covering everything from
quality assurance programs to PET/MR imaging. A new system was
used for the first time this year for submission and abstract
scoring which should result in a smoother process for submitting
authors and scorers alike. All the presenting authors will be
busily preparing their presentations for the meeting having
received their notifications. Several authors took advantage of
the offer of mentoring this year and will be presenting posters
at the meeting. The award–winning Oral papers in Research and
Clinical areas will be presented by the authors in the Proffered
paper session within the two-day program. The Poster tour and
reception will be held on Saturday night and we encourage you to
attend. The evening offers an opportunity to listen to the award
winners and mingle and discuss the wonderful presentations.
Pleasingly, this year we saw an increase in the number of
submissions for the John A. Koveleski Award and the winning
author will present their work at the Poster tour on Saturday
evening. The meeting in Toronto should be an educational bonanza
and we hope to see you there.
In an exciting development the SMRT had the ability to offer a
travel scholarship program for the first time in 2015, thanks to
the generosity of a donation from the ISMRM Research and
Education Fund. Applications were accepted from 3 February to 20
March, with five $1000 USD scholarships awarded. This adds yet
another level of support and educational opportunity offered by
the SMRT to benefit its membership.
