MR Technologists and Radiographers Receive Awards for Their Efforts

The Education Committee and a panel of 10 reviewers evaluated a total of 36 abstracts submitted for the 22nd SMRT Annual Meeting. There were 14 Clinical and 22 Research submissions reviewed using established criteria to determine the best efforts in each category. There were 3 submissions for the John A. Koveleski award.  The top 3 posters in each category, as well as the JAK Award winner, were presented at the opening session.

Kevin Epperson, R.T.(R)(MR) received the 1st Place Research Focus Poster Award for his work: Creation of an MRI Data Repository for Validating Compressed Sensing and Other Acceleration Techniques




Zahid Latif, R.T.(R)(MR)(CT) received the 2nd Place Research Focus Poster Award  for his work: The Effects of Breath-hold on Blood Flow Measures at the Neck Level



Katrin Koziel, R.T. received the 3rd Place Research Focus Poster Award for her work: Diffusion Weighted Imaging (DWI) at 3.0T System with Dual-source
Parallel RF Excitation Techniques: Conventional DWI vs. Inner-volume DWI Approach


Steven Williams, B.A., R.T. (R)(MR) received the 1st Place Clinical Focus Poster Award for his work:
MRI-Guided Laser Ablation in Patients with Temporal Lobe Focused Seizures
 


Christopher Cook, B.S., R.T.(R) received the 2nd Place Clinical Focus Poster Award for his work: Use of High Resolution MRI in Determining Tumor-Free Resection Margin in Rectal Cancer


Liana Rocha, MSc., B.S., R.T.(MR) received the 3rd Place Clinical Focus Poster Award for her work:
Claustrophobia in MRI: A Matter of Care



An award was established to honor the memory of John A. Koveleski, SMRT President 2002-2003, in recognizing the need for MR professional development of students and new entrants in the field of MR. The recipient of the 3rd John A. Koveleski Award for Professional Development is Anthea Hon, BAppSc (MRS) DiagRad M MagResTech, Westmead Hospital, Sydney, Australia, for her abstract and poster titled: The Role of Imaging in the Diagnosis of Diabetic-Related Foot Osteomyelitis
